NeitherNet Adapter

NeitherNet Adapter

$7.99$19.99

It’s not PhoneNet. It’s not LocalTalk. It’s Neither… NeitherNet!

With this adapter, available as a kit or fully assembled, you can use basic ethernet cables to connect your classic Macs together in an AppleTalk network.

Compatible with any Classic Mac with DIN-8 Serial Ports and AppleTalk installed. NOTE: This does not turn your serial ports into Ethernet ports, nor can you plug these into an Ethernet switch. It simply allows you to use inexpensive Ethernet patch cables in place of phone cables or serial cables to make a LocalTalk network.

Each unit comes with a fancy case, printed in Apple Platinum! You can also download the STL file and print one yourself.

Download the pinout guide for self-assembly.

Description

What the heck is NeitherNet? It’s a PhoneNet-style adapter based on a project called CapNet from the early 1990’s. It’s a crazy build-it-yourself solution that allows you to re-create PhoneNet LocalTalk networks for your vintage Macs without all the expense and risk of finding an original adapter on some auction site.
